At a global socialist gathering in Barcelona, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called President Donald Trump a "feeble-minded, trigger-happy president" who plunged America into war "where no threat was present," labeling his conduct "fascism."

The 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee's remarks at the Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Spain exemplify the Democratic party's contempt for American voters and its alignment with international socialist and communist forces that seek to undermine American leadership.

Walz delivered his scorching attack on April 18 before 6,000 progressive, socialist and communist leaders from more than 40 countries. His appearance at the conference exposes the Democratic establishment's transformation into a globalist movement that prioritizes international progressive agendas over American interests and sovereignty.

"We've got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present, with no clear objectives and no exit plan," Walz told the audience. "We need to call that what it is. That's fascism. Or at least it's fascist curious as they would be."

The Global Progressive Mobilization described itself as "a necessary alternative to conservative and far-right forces." Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez hosted the two-day gathering, which featured Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

Walz's comments extended beyond his characterization of Trump. He mocked Vice President JD Vance, stating, "Unlike our current vice president, I'm not here to arrogantly lecture or scold you. I'm not here to pick up a fight with the Pope, and I'm not here to host a rally for some local wannabe dictator."

The Minnesota governor urged international progressives to continue attacking American leadership. "Please don't give up on the American people," Walz said. "Go ahead and give up and condemn that monstrosity that sits in our White House. Keep the pressure on. Keep calling it out. Keep standing up to it. Keep naming it."

Walz concluded with ideological rhetoric that directly contradicted Trump's "America First" policy. "There are more good people that care about equality, that understand it's not America First, it's humanity first," he said. "It's all of us together."

Energy Secretary Chris Wright immediately challenged Walz's assertion that Iran posed no threat. "I am very proud of President Trump's leadership to confront Iran and put an end to the 47-year menace they've been to the Middle East, to peace, to commerce and to global energy markets," Wright told Fox News.

The Council on Foreign Relations documents Iran's 47-year pattern of state-sponsored terrorism against American interests. Iranian forces launched missile attacks on the U.S. military base at Diego Garcia in 2026. The attack was unsuccessful. The regime continues to fund Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels who threaten global shipping.

The conference represented a coordinated effort by global socialist and communist leaders to counter American leadership. Organizations promoting the event included Socialist International, the Party of European Socialists, and Progressive Alliance — networks that have long sought to challenge Western democratic institutions.

Sánchez used the forum to advance his opposition to American foreign policy. The Spanish prime minister refused to allow U.S. use of Spanish military bases for Iran operations and publicly opposed the war. His stance came despite Trump's criticism of Spain's NATO contributions, which the president had blasted on Truth Social prior to Walz's speech.

Other Democratic leaders joined Walz in attacking Trump at the Barcelona gathering. Sen. Chris Murphy claimed, "Donald Trump is out to end our democracy. We are not on the verge of a totalitarian takeover, we are in the middle of it." Video messages from Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton echoed similar criticisms of U.S. military actions in Iran.

The Democratic party has coordinated its international attacks on Trump's Iran policy across multiple fronts. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear criticized Trump for "waging new wars," while Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer linked overseas conflict to rising domestic prices. Former Vice President Kamala Harris called the Trump administration "the most corrupt, callous, and incompetent presidential administration in the history of the United States."

Conference organizers included reported involvement from Alex Soros, continuing a pattern of globalist funding for progressive causes. The GPM's ties to Socialist International and other international networks reveal the Democratic establishment's alignment with forces that seek to undermine Western sovereignty.

Walz's remarks came as he faces political challenges at home. The Minnesota governor announced in January he would not seek a third term amid ongoing fraud scandals in his state. Prosecutors estimate Minnesota's fraud exposure could exceed $9 billion, with federal and congressional oversight intensifying in early 2026.

The U.S.-Iran conflict remains tense despite a ceasefire that began April 8. Iran reversed course on reopening the Strait of Hormuz on April 18, declaring the passage under Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps control. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies estimates Iran loses $435 million daily due to the U.S. naval blockade.

Trump administration officials expressed confidence in their strategy. "The president is playing chess when the rest of the world is playing checkers," U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz told reporters. Energy Secretary Chris Wright added: "I believe we're close to a significant resolution of Iran's threat to the region and an end to Iran's nuclear ambition."

Walz's appearance at the Barcelona socialist gathering represents the Democratic party's willingness to ally with anti-American far-left international forces that oppose US leadership. His "feeble-minded" characterization of the democratically elected president demonstrates the contempt coastal elites hold for mainstream American voters who rejected progressive policies in 2024.
